Petal Massager Bulk Bag Unloader

Used In Material Handling to Discharge the Contents of Large, Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs)

A Petal Massager Bulk Bag Unloader is a type of equipment used in material handling to discharge (empty) the contents of large, flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs), often called bulk bags or jumbo bags.

The “petal massager” is a specialised flow promotion device that is an optional component of the unloader’s frame.

Key Features

Here’s how it works and what it does:

  • Function: It is designed to ensure a smooth, continuous flow of material, especially for products that are non-free-flowing, compacted, or clumped during storage or shipment.
  • Mechanism: It consists of multiple (often two or four) pneumatically or hydraulically operated actuator paddles (the “petals”) located on the lower sides or corners of the unloader frame.
Action: These paddles push in and out against the sides of the bulk bag, massaging the material.
  • This action: Breaks up large lumps or compacted material.
  • Forces the material toward the centre discharge spout.
  • Prevents common flow problems like bridging (when material forms an arch over the spout) or rat-holing (when material only flows directly from the centre, leaving product stuck to the sides).

Essentially, it’s a mechanical way to “shake” and “squeeze” the bottom of a bulk bag to ensure complete and efficient product evacuation into a downstream process or conveyor.
