What is a weigh frame?

A weigh platform is a stainless-steel structure that supports the conveyor, hopper or mixer.  Each weigh frame consists of, load cells, guarding and vibration isolation.

Overview

The standard Rospen weigh platform is a robust, high‑stability weighing unit designed for precise hopper and vessel weighing in continuous and batch processes. It is engineered to deliver reliable performance in demanding industrial environments, where accuracy, repeatability, and minimal maintenance are critical.

At the centre of the standard weigh platform are three cantilever-like load cells, positioned to hold the hopper or vessel in three places. Electronic summation of these load cells automatically controls any off-centre loading that can occur during hopper emptying and filling. This has the benefit that the system will not only give an accurate, stable weight signal when the product is perfectly distributed, but also when it is not.

To safeguard the mechanism for weight during transportation, installation, and operation, the platform is provided with in-built transit lockers, overload detection, and side impact stops. These characteristics protect the load cells against shock loads and unintended knocks or overloads, which can damage the load cells and shorten their service life, and ensure long-term accuracy. A self-centring system ensures the correct location of the weigh structure and eliminates errors caused by changes in temperature or thermal expansion, or by slight mechanical movement over time.

The weighing system is solid-state, so there are no complex moving components, providing virtually maintenance-free operation under normal conditions. To further protect, the entire weigh assembly is covered with a stainless-steel dust cover with removable sides. This protects the load cells and internal parts against dust and debris, and the removable panels are also easy to access to check the inspections, calibration, and cleaning etc.
