Service Overview

Commissioning bridges the gap between installation and full production, proving that each system operates correctly under real process conditions. Rospen’s engineers carry out structured checks and tests to verify that mechanical, electrical and control elements work together as intended. This stage helps identify and resolve issues early, reducing the risk of downtime once the plant is handed over.

 

Pre‑Commissioning Checks

Before the live product is introduced, pre‑commissioning activities confirm that the installation is complete and safe to energise. Typical tasks include visual inspections, torque and rotation checks on drives, verification of interlocks and safety devices, and I/O testing between field devices and control panels. Documentation such as drawings, manuals and risk assessments is reviewed to ensure that the commissioning plan aligns with the latest design.

 

Functional Testing and Optimisation

During commissioning, the system is run through a series of functional tests, moving from dry runs (no product) to trials with product at increasing throughputs. Control sequences, setpoints, alarms, and interlocks are tested to confirm they achieve the desired process behaviour, such as stable feed rates, accurate dosing, and correct material routing. Where necessary, parameters are tuned and minor adjustments made to optimise performance, reliability and product quality.

 

Combination with Safety and Compliance

Checks involved in commissioning include safety and compliance checks, especially for ATEX, DSEAR, or other hazardous-area regulations. Safety circuits, emergency halts, guarding interlocks, and protective devices are known to be as effective as they are designed, and any ATEX-rated equipment is known to operate within certified limits. Results may be entered into DSEAR records and the inspection and maintenance plans for hazardous areas to assist with continued compliance.

 

Handover, Training and Support

On commissioning termination, Rospen develops handover reports that may include test reports, as-built environments, operating manuals, and maintenance guidelines. Practical training can be provided to operators and maintenance staff on start-up, shutdown, cleaning, changeover, and fault-finding procedures. Post-commissioning support is offered to tune the system during the first few weeks of operation and to assist with any future changes or expansions.
